Project Information

Project Description:

Hobbs Carpet Cleaning is a UK carpet and upholstery cleaning business based in Hemel Hempstead, with a WordPress website serving customers across nearby towns and service areas. This local SEO case study explains how I manage the ongoing SEO campaign for the business, including technical SEO, service-area content, internal linking, blog improvements, indexing support, backlink planning and conversion-focused updates.

My objective is to help the website earn more relevant organic visibility and turn more search visitors into enquiries. The case study is useful for local service businesses, cleaning companies and WordPress site owners who need a practical SEO campaign rather than a one-time checklist.

The SEO Challenge

Hobbs Carpet Cleaning needed stronger organic visibility across several services and locations. The website had to support high-intent searches for cleaning services in Hemel Hempstead and other priority areas without relying on thin, repeated location pages.

The main challenge was to connect the site structure more clearly: service pages, location pages, blog articles, pricing information and contact routes all needed to work together. The campaign also needed better content depth, stronger calls to action and ongoing authority development in a competitive local market.

What I Found During the SEO Review

I reviewed the WordPress structure, service-page targeting, location-page targeting, blog content, headings, metadata, internal links, image presentation, indexability, mobile readability, calls to action and trust signals. I also reviewed robots.txt and supported Google and Bing indexing work.

I identified opportunities to connect informational articles with commercial pages more effectively. For example, articles about stains, drying times or cleaning costs could support service and location pages when linked naturally to relevant quote, pricing and contact pages.

I use verified Search Console and reporting data when discussing performance, and I keep completed deliverables separate from measurable SEO outcomes.

The Local SEO Strategy

The strategy was to strengthen the pages most likely to support enquiries, then build helpful content around them. I prioritized service and location intent first, then used blog content to answer questions potential customers ask before they are ready to request a quote.

I connected content around priority services, service areas and customer problems. This supports topical relevance while helping visitors move from advice to action. The same approach can support other WordPress service websites through website development, technical improvements and ongoing website maintenance.

Work Completed

Technical and On-Page SEO

I reviewed page titles, descriptions, headings, indexability, robots.txt, content hierarchy, image presentation and internal crawl paths. I also supported Google and Bing indexing so new and improved pages had a clearer route into search engines.

I improved practical on-page elements that affect both search and usability, including blog presentation, single-post readability, featured-image handling and CTA display issues. These changes helped the content look more professional and easier to act on.

Service and Location Page Optimization

I improved priority pages for service and location relevance, including Hemel Hempstead, Milton Keynes, St Albans, Harpenden, Berkhamsted, Aylesbury, Watford, Hertfordshire, Luton and Dunstable.

The aim was to give each important page a clear purpose. Instead of producing duplicated city-name pages, I worked around distinct service intent, local relevance, useful supporting content and clearer internal links.

SEO Content Strategy

During the first 25 days of the initial phase, approximately 12 SEO articles were published. I used the blog to answer customer questions while supporting commercial service and location pages.

Topics included carpet drying time, carpet cleaning costs, pet stains and smells, red wine and tea stain removal, end-of-tenancy cleaning, steam cleaning versus dry cleaning, carpet care for homes with children and indoor air quality. This type of content helps the site reach users earlier in the buying journey and gives internal links more context.

Internal Linking and Topic Clusters

I added contextual links from informational articles to relevant service, location, pricing and contact pages. I also connected supporting articles where the relationship helped users understand the topic more deeply.

Natural anchor text was important. The internal links needed to help visitors and search engines understand the relationship between informational content and commercial pages without repeating the same exact-match keyword everywhere.

Conversion and Enquiry Improvements

I improved calls to action inside articles, strengthened routes to quotation and contact pages, and improved how blog images and CTA areas appeared in the content. These updates were not design changes for decoration. They supported the SEO goal of turning more qualified organic visitors into enquiries.

Backlink and Authority Development

The initial campaign included a planned batch of 100 backlinks across selected priority pages. I have not attributed the Search Console performance to backlinks alone, because backlink impact needs to be reviewed alongside content, technical improvements, indexing and other campaign activity.

Search Tracking and Indexing

I supported Google Search Console and Bing indexing activity, including sitemap awareness, URL inspection and page-level monitoring. I also monitored which pages needed further content, internal links or technical attention as the campaign developed.

SEO Progress Update – August 2026 (2.5 Months Into the Campaign)

Approximately 2.5 months into the ongoing SEO campaign, Hobbs Carpet Cleaning is showing an encouraging recent trend in Google Search. The latest three-month Search Console view records 1.14K clicks and 258K impressions, with a 0.4% click-through rate and an average position of 17.5. Because this report begins slightly before the SEO campaign started, these totals are used as performance context rather than attributed entirely to the campaign.

The broader six-month Search Console view records 2.04K clicks and 484K impressions, with a 0.4% CTR and an average position of 18.9. The most useful signal in the graphs is the recent direction of travel: daily clicks and impressions rise noticeably toward the end of July and beginning of August while the SEO work remains ongoing.

The campaign continues to focus on priority service and location pages, useful search-focused content, internal linking, technical improvements, indexing support, conversion paths and authority building. I will continue monitoring Search Console performance and updating the case study as more campaign-specific data becomes available.

Generative AI Search Visibility Update – August 2026

Google Search Console has now started reporting Hobbs Carpet Cleaning inside the Generative AI features performance view. This is an important AEO and GEO progress signal because it shows the website is beginning to earn visibility in AI-powered search experiences, not only traditional organic search results.

In the latest three-month view, the website shows 17K total impressions from Generative AI features. This timing matters because the Hobbs SEO campaign is now close to the three-month mark, and the Search Console graph shows the strongest increase toward late July and early August.

The six-month view also shows 17K total impressions for Generative AI features, with the visible activity concentrated inside the most recent three-month period. I am treating this as a strong visibility signal rather than a standalone traffic or enquiry claim, because Generative AI reporting in Search Console is still a new performance view and should be read carefully.

For the project, this supports the direction of the SEO, AEO and GEO work: improving crawlable service pages, local relevance, structured content, helpful answers and topical coverage so Hobbs can be discovered across both regular Google search and AI-assisted search surfaces.

Earlier Search Console Checkpoint

Client Testimonial

Hobbs Carpet Cleaning provided a video testimonial about working with me on the website and SEO campaign. I have included the original video as client evidence rather than rewriting it into a quote.

Why This Strategy Works for Local Service Businesses

This approach works because local SEO is a connected system. Service pages need clear targeting. Location pages need distinct relevance. Blog posts need to answer useful questions and support commercial pages. Internal links need to guide users and search engines. Technical issues need attention before they limit performance.

For cleaning companies, trades, home-service businesses and small UK businesses, a WordPress website should explain what you do, where you work, why customers should trust you and what they should do next. You can see more work in my portfolio and read client feedback on the testimonials page.

What Is Still in Progress

The campaign remains active. The next phase can include publishing additional content, strengthening priority locations, reviewing Search Console data, improving existing pages, developing more relevant authority signals and refining enquiry paths based on real user behaviour.

Frequently Asked Questions

What SEO work did Kashif complete for Hobbs Carpet Cleaning?

Kashif Mahmood worked on WordPress SEO, technical checks, content planning, approximately 12 SEO articles, internal linking, location-page improvements, CTA improvements, indexing support and backlink planning for selected priority pages. The work focused on improving visibility and enquiry paths for a UK local service business.

Can Kashif improve an existing WordPress website without rebuilding it?

Yes. Many WordPress websites can be improved through technical SEO, content updates, better page structure, internal links, image optimization and conversion improvements. A full rebuild is only needed when the existing website structure prevents meaningful progress.

How long does local SEO take to produce results?

Local SEO timing depends on competition, website history, content quality, technical health and the starting level of authority. Meaningful improvements usually require consistent work over several months, especially when a business wants stronger rankings, better traffic and more qualified enquiries.

Can Kashif create SEO location pages without duplicate content?

Yes. My approach is to build location pages around distinct service intent, useful local context, internal links and customer questions. I avoid thin pages that simply replace one town name with another because those pages are weak for users and search engines.

Does Kashif provide ongoing monthly SEO?

Yes. Ongoing SEO can include content planning, page optimization, technical reviews, backlinks, internal linking, Search Console checks, keyword visibility monitoring, reporting and next-step recommendations. This is often the right fit for service businesses in competitive local markets.

Does Kashif work with clients outside Pakistan?

Yes. Kashif Mahmood works remotely with clients in the UK, US and other international markets. This includes WordPress SEO, local SEO, website audits, content strategy, website improvements and ongoing SEO management.

What information is included in SEO reports?

SEO reports can include completed content, technical work, important pages improved, keyword visibility, Search Console performance, backlink activity, indexing notes, issues found and recommended next actions. The exact report format depends on the campaign goals and available tracking data.
